GAS SERVICING
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT GAS SERVICING

The Association is required by law to have an annual inspection of all gas appliances owned by ourselves fitted in our properties.
To ensure that all properties have a valid gas safety certificate we arrange all gas services on a 10 monthly cycle. Our gas contractors James Frew will contact you by post/text with the date that the gas service has been arranged, if that date isn't suitable please contact James Frew or the Association's office to arrange a more suitable date. If they fail to gain access on the date arranges they will arrange to further visits to the property.
THE GAS SERVICE VISIT
James Frew Gas Sure have been appointed by the Association as the GasSafe registered contractor responsible for carrying out a safety inspection of all gas appliances in your home.
It is extremely important that you allow access to your home for this essential safety inspection.
An engineer will call at your home on this arranged date to carry out your gas safety inspection. The inspection should take no longer than ninety minutes to complete. All engineers will carry photographic identification, please insist that this is displayed to you before allowing them into your home.
If you think that the arranged appointment date is likely to cause you inconvenience, please contact the office on 01236 457948 to arrange an alternative visit.
If you have a prepay card or key meter for your gas and electricity please make sure BOTH have sufficient credit to allow your gas appliance to operate and be tested. If the inspection is aborted due to no gas or electricity in the property you may be recharged for the visit.
Details of any tenants who fail to provide access for the inspection on the date arranged will be passed to the Association, who have a policy of forcing access to the property to carry out the gas service as per section 5.10 of your tenancy agreement. If we have to make forcible entry, in this situation, you are liable for the costs of any damage reasonably caused.
Thank you in advance for your co-operation.
MULTIPLE FAILED ACCESS
If James Frew fail to gain access to your property on the third visit to carry out the gas service, we will arrange for your Gas Supply to be capped. If your Gas Meter is located within your home then access will be forced. If we are required to force access then you will be liable for the expense of the forced access along with any associated costs following the forced access.
To avoid any costs being forwarded to yourself please contact us as soon as possible to arrange a suitable appointment.
